What is a Financial First Aider?

A Financial First Aider is someone who champions open conversations about money and facilitates financial wellbeing initiatives in your organisation. They ensure every employee feels listened to.

Anyone in an organisation can become a Financial First Aider, just as anyone can become a Mental Health First Aider or health and injury-related first aider.

What you'll learn

By the end of the training, Financial First Aiders will be able to:

  • Discuss the Financial First Aider role in depth, including boundaries and confidentiality
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills required to have meaningful conversations
  • Demonstrate the financial knowledge required to be a credible Financial First Aider
  • Recognise those that may be experiencing difficulties navigating the world of personal finance and provide them with first-level support
  • Encourage a person to identify and access sources of expert help and other support services
  • Apply their knowledge and skills to practice scenarios
